- A 50% increase of the applicable fee will be applied if a registration has not been completed by the owner by 1 August each year.
- A remission of the registration fee may be granted for the sixth and subsequent dog owned by a person (conditions apply).
- New registrations received after 1 July each year qualify for part year payment if the dog is less than 3 months old on or after 2 August each year, or the dog is imported into New Zealand for the first time on or after 2 August each year. The part year payment is calculated pro-rata
