FAQ'S
Where would I be based?
What are the flexible working arrangements?
Our flexible working arrangements include opportunities to work from home, longer days for a shorter work week and varied working hours to suit productivity and commitments. Employees work with their direct reporting manager to see if these options can suit their role.
How many people work at HDC?
We employ around 140 people (excluding contractors), with about 70% of these roles based in our Amberley office.
What is the car parking and traffic situation like?
Our staff say travelling to work at the HDC is hassle free because you are generally travelling against the traffic heading to or from “town” [Christchurch and Rangiora] or coming from low traffic areas to the North. We also have staff car parking on site.
Is there a dress code?
Our Amberley Office is generally a ‘smart casual’ space, though we do ‘casual Fridays’ once a month to fundraise for a local charity. We also have many roles based outside of the office or at alternative locations, which require you to dress to the conditions and/or may have an even more relaxed dress code. If your role requires specialty clothing, we will provide the items you need.
What is the office setup like?
Our main office is a flexi-desk space. Employees choose where they would like to sit in the morning and each desk is cleared at the end of the workday for anyone to use the next day. We also use ‘stand or sit’ ergonomic equipment to protect the health of our employees.
Do I need a vehicle for work?
We have a pool of vehicles for staff to book and use getting from A to B during the workday.
What sort of personal and professional development opportunities are available?
Our employees' success is our success. We encourage training and development and want our people to be successful in their chosen career. Employees can suggest any training they would like to do to their direct reporting manager and the training will be considered in good faith and potentially funded out of the team’s budget. In the same sense, managers will suggest good training opportunities to staff too.
