New Toilets in Hanmer Springs
A new block of public toilets, intended to better provide for the travelling public, have opened in Hanmer Springs.
The toilets are a welcome asset to the area, being both beautifully designed and well placed.
The new loos are in the Brooke Dawson Reserve and were paid for by Tourism Infrastructure Funding from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).
Chief Operations Officer, Dan Harris said the Council has plans to add an additional four more blocks of public toilets thanks to the MBIE funding. “This district has an excellent network of rate payer funded public toilets; however, this funding allows us to meet the increasing demand and ensure our visitor experience is a great one,” he said.
“Tourism is a very important economic driver in the Hurunui district, but the cost of providing appropriate infrastructure can fall heavily on our small population base. MBIE funding through the Tourism Infrastructure Fund is a great assist to our communities”.
