Together Hurunui projects off to a great start
Together Hurunui’s key projects for 2022 are off to a great start.
This year, projects surrounding mental health, family violence, youth, migrants, and newcomers to the Hurunui District are the sole focus of Hurunui District Council’s Together Hurunui Facilitator Natalie Paterson.
Together Hurunui is a network of social services where collective discussions about challenges and gaps within Hurunui District take place.
Recently, Together Hurunui hosted a Community Fiesta alongside our Filipino community. The Fiesta consisted of a three day basketball tournament followed by a Fiesta Festival celebrating Filipino culture and food.
Mayor Marie Black attended the event and crowned the winner of the tournament.
“It is always a privilege be invited to attend our cultural events here in Hurunui. It is so important to celebrate the diversity of our district and I am thrilled that this is a focus for our Together Hurunui Network,” said Mayor Black.
The second project for 2022 is rolling out next week. Together Hurunui are hosting a Wellbeing Campaign over World Wellbeing Week.
One wellbeing challenge or activity will be posted each day on the Hurunui Youth social media, Together Hurunui social media and advertised throughout the community.
“The campaign will cover a wide range of aspects surrounding mental health, and the daily challenges will be great way for people to engage,” said Paterson, who is thrilled to be making headway with these projects.
“Projects surrounding family violence and youth are in the works, and we look forward to bringing these to the community later in the year.”
