Domestic Tyres
At Amberley transfer station, from Monday 16 December, there will be no charge for certain domestic tyres from selected motorised vehicle types under Tyrewise providing the following criteria is met.
- On arrival at Amberley (and Hanmer Springs) transfer station, please let the staff in the weighbridge know if you have tyres to drop off - by number and type.
- On arrival at the Cheviot, Culverden and Waiau transfer stations, please let the contractor on site know you have tyres to drop off prior to unloading to permit them to be inspected.
- Each domestic customer can drop off the following.
- Maximum of 5 x “smaller” tyres (car, 4WD)
- Maximum of 2 x forklift pneumatic, heavy truck or bus tyres
- Maximum of 1 x tractor or loader tyres
- Tyres must be clean, off rims and truck size or smaller.
- Dirty tyres, excavator tracks, tyres on rims, bicycle tyres, wheelbarrow and sack barrow tyres are not accepted.
- Amberley transfer station will not take several loads from a customer in one day or over one week.
- Commercial tyres (including tyres from farms) must be taken to a tyre company or garage who is participating in the Tyrewise scheme.
- Tyrewise is not operating at the Cheviot, Culverden, Hanmer Springs or Waiau transfer stations. At these transfer stations, the 24/25 per tyre fee applies to cover the loading and transportation of the tyres to Amberley.
Only the following domestic tyres are accepted.
- ATV
- Bus (light or heavy)
- Car
- Four-wheel drive (4WD)
- Forklift (pneumatic or solid)
- Loader (small or large)
- Motorbike, motor-trike, sidecar
- Ride-on mower
- Tractor (small or large)
- Trailer
- Truck (light or heavy)
The staff on site, reserve the right to decline any tyres, which do not meet the Tyrewise acceptance criteria.
