Each year, Council applies a fresh seal coat (reseal) to approximately 36km of existing sealed roads. This retains the waterproof qualities and improves skid resistance. The identified roads are repaired ahead of the resealing, sometimes a year in advance.
We provide guide times for the reseal schedule. Sealing is very weather dependent and timelines may be altered accordingly.
Short term temporary speed restrictions are applied to protect motorists while there is loose chip and no road markings. The lower speeds also protect the new seal from damage and reduce stone damage.
