Making an application to temporarily close a council road.
Before approval to close a road for any activity, written requests are put before council and must be publicly advertised for objections. The request must be with Council 30 working days before the event to allow time to carry out the requirements of the Local Government Act 1974, Schedule 10, clause 11(e),

PROPOSED TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
Pursuant to the Local Government Act 1974, Schedule 10, clause 11(e), the Hurunui District Council gives notice that it has received an application from Autosport Club Inc. requesting the temporary closure of various roads within the Hurunui District to facilitate the running of six stages of the 2025 Lone Star Canterbury Rally.
Date and Time of Closure - Sunday 1 June 2025
The proposed closure is necessary to ensure the safety of competitors, officials, and the public during the event.
Proposed Road Closures:
- Stage 2 - Happy Valley Rd, Glendhu Rd. 8-10 – 11-10am
- Stage 3 - Kaiwara Rd, Eggleston Rd, Leamington Rd, Waiau West Rd. 9am -12-30pm
- Stage 4 - Sinclair Rd. 9-30am – 12-35pm
- Stage 5 - Blythe Rd, Stonyhurst Rd, Happy Valley Rd 10-40am – 1-40pm
- Stage 6 - Greys Rd, Heathstock Rd, MacDonald Downs Rd, Ram Paddock Rd. 11-40am – 2-40pm
- Stage 7 - Onepunga Rd, Berridale Rd, Brodies Rd. 12:40 – 3:40pm
(Note - stage 1 is held outside of the Hurunui district)
Public Submissions
Any person objecting to the proposed road closures must submit their objections in writing to the Hurunui District Council no later than Mid-day Monday 31 March 2025
