Building Consent Inspections

Foundation

Prior to concrete pouring. Please email surveyors siting and engineers certificate (if required) to building@hurunui.govt.nz prior to inspection

Slab

Prior to concrete pouring. Please send compaction certificate to building@hurunui.govt.nz prior to inspection

Pre-roof

Prior to any wrap/roof cladding/soffit. All framing and fixings in place including internal hold down and bracing. If you have a ply or cement based rigid air barrier and this is your wall bracing and/or top plate tie this is to be in place also

Pre- Clad wrap

After wrap/rigid air barrier and sill tapes are in place but before window and soffit lining installation. No battens, flashings or cladding on.

Mid clad/ masonry

Windows in, flashings on, battens in place and cladding partly installed. If you have sheet cladding, have some sheets on, if you have board or brick cladding ensure half of it is at about half height

Pre-line

Must be weather tight and prior to lining interior, cladding to be complete or rigid air barrier installed (ensure that no water can penetrate inside e.g. exposed window heads), insulation in place, plumbing complete, tiled corner shower fixings on, air seals and backing rod in place (inspectors will test for backing rod)

Pre-stop

Prior to interior plastering starting and after all bracing fixings being completed

Tanking

After completion of tanking application and prior to tiling. Please have product detail available on site if different to plans. Please send tanking certificate or PS3 (if required) to building@hurunui.govt.nz prior to inspection

Drains

Prior to backfilling drains. Please have water test on

Final

Job complete. Things often missed at final are steps in and out of building, ceiling insulation not tidy, wet areas not sealed, leaking showers, effluent fields not fenced, paperwork not supplied, previous site instructions not verified as being completed, water test results, no smoke detectors or not working or wrong location
