Green light for another round of MTFJ funding
Connecting the youngest workers of Hurunui District with local businesses is set to continue, with another round of funding recently awarded.
The Mayors’ Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) team at Hurunui District Council (HDC) is preparing for another year of work placements, with funding recently received from the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).
Mayor Marie Black is thrilled with the success so far of the collaboration between local and central government to deliver this programme, connecting local businesses with youth and those who are disadvantaged in the labour market, creating sustainable opportunities for both parties.
“The MTFJ Programme has delivered exceptional results across the district over the past two years. We look forward to another year of supporting our young people into sustainable employment,” said Mayor Black.
Business Partnership Advisor Chris King is now in his third year running the Programme at HDC alongside MTFJ Programme Coordinator Jo Carter.
“It has been great to see the community and local businesses really get behind the Programme. That feeling you get when you place a young person in employment never wears off,” said Chris.
The Team at Hurunui Council is excited to continue its work to support our community.
Our MTFJ team is keen to connect with local businesses who can support a pathway for local young people and meet with rangatahi or whanau to start a journey towards employment. Please contact Jo or Chris at HDC, 03 3148816 or email mtfj@hurunui.govt.nz
