Property Information

All property files are held in electronic format. If you wish to view a property file, please email or call Hurunui District Council. There is no charge to view your own property file via email or in person at the Council offices. If you wish to view files on a property that you do not own via email or in person, a $25 charge will apply. If you are doing work on behalf of a property owner and wish to view the property files, there will be no charge.

Buying a property

If you are considering purchasing a property, we recommend you get a LIM (Land Information Memorandum). A LIM provides a copy of all known information relating to the specified property including rates, building consents, resource consents, and any other information known to the Council. Is your home Homefit?

It is important for the safety of your friends and family to ensure your home is ‘Homefit’.

Homefit is an inspection-based assessment of New Zealand homes created by the New Zealand Green Building Council with housing professionals. Homefit helps people to understand how healthy their home is and support them to make necessary changes.

Homefit offer a free online self-assessment tool so you can check if your home is healthy.

This tool was designed for landlords, tenants, and homeowners. Just answer a few questions and receive great advice that aligns with the Healthy Homes Standard. This was introduced by Government for rental housing in July 2019 to improve the living conditions of renters in New Zealand. These standards set out new requirements for heating, insulation, ventilation, moisture, drainage, and draught stopping.
