Career Kiosks spark interest in local schools
An interactive tool is providing students in Hurunui the ability to visualize what they want to do when they grow up.
Inzone Career Kiosks have been installed at Amuri Area School Library/Service Centre and Hurunui College. One more will be installed at Cheviot Area School next week.
Funded for one year by the Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ), these interactive Kiosks enable students to watch videos on a variety of careers.
If a particular video spikes their interest, they can select an option for an automated text message to be sent to their cellphone, providing links and other relevant information.
MTFJ Programme Coordinator Jo Carter said Inzone Career Kiosks are a great tool for exploring a career or pathway.
"Students may stumble across career options they didn’t even know were out there," said Carter.
Inzone Career Kiosks are at various locations throughout New Zealand, and Carter hopes to have some videos of Hurunui businesses featuring.
"It would be great to eventually showcase the great job opportunities we have available here right here in Hurunui."
The Kiosk in Culverden is available for anyone in the community to use during the Library/Service Centre hours.
