Full swing ahead as community representatives start the New Year.
As we launch into 2023, Hurunui District’s community board and community committee members are looking forward to working alongside their communities and the wider Hurunui District for this triennium.
The Glenmark Community Committee will be represented by Alistair Malcom (Glenmark Reserve), Jo Loe (Greta Valley Reserve), Kalvyn Schenkel (Motunau Residents and Ratepayers Association), Dave Inkson (Omihi Reserve), Andy Fairbairn (Scargill Reserve), and Steven Ellis (Waipara Residents and Ratepayers Association). Independent members are Jock Foster (elected Chairperson), Tony Moore, Mark Archbold and Jenny Broadhurst.
The Amuri Community Committee Group representatives are Lisette Burrows and Louise Pickering (Culverden Community Committee), Robyn Powell (Mt Lyford), Hayley Clark (Rotherham Citizens), Ian Lackey (Rotherham Citizens), Michelle Forbes and Hamish Galletly (Waiau Citizens). Independent members are David Croft (elected Chairperson), Billy Lott and Andrew Wright.
The Hurunui Community Committee Group representatives are Peter Black (elected Chairperson and representing Hawarden Reserve Advisory Group), Rod McKay (Hurunui Racecourse Reserve Advisory Group) and Mel Ruck (Waikari Reserve Advisory Group). Independent members are Ben Cassidy, Alan McKnight, Rob Topp, Jeff Walker and Brona Youngman.
South Ward Committee Group representatives are Joanne Hassall (elected Chairperson, Leithfield Community Centre Inc), Simon Bennetto (Amberley Reserve Advisory Group), Mac McWhinnie (Amberley Beach Residents Association), Roy Myers (Amberley District Residents Association) and Jacky Ellis (Leithfield Beach Residents Association). The Independent members are Alex Clyne, Sharon Earl and Chris Hawker.
Cheviot Community Committee Group representatives are Geoff Maxwell (Gore Bay Ratepayers Association), Peter Somerville (Port Robinson Reserves Advisory Group) and Heb Wiesen (Cheviot Reserves Advisory Group). Independent Members are Tamara McKay (elected Chairperson), Catherine Maxwell, Peter Montgomery, Anthea Prentice and Doug Taylor.
Hanmer Springs Community Board members are Mary Holloway (elected Chairperson), Chris Hughey, Michael Malthus, Alice Stielow, Richard Tapper, and Hurunui District Councillor Tom Davies.
Mayor Marie Black acknowledges the support and relationship between council and residents through the work of these groups, and looks forward to supporting communities through the next triennium and achieving the best outcomes together.
