All hands on deck - Lottery Bush Reserve
It was all hands on deck at Lottery Bush Reserve last Saturday. There was a good turnout for the working bee which involved marking and trimming a loop track.
Hurunui District Councillor Ross Barnes said this work marks one step closer to being able to open this area to the public.
"We look forward to many being able to enjoy this unique piece of bush."
Signage will be installed at the car park located on the Inland Road.
Lottery Bush Conservation Group is a former recipient of the MainPower Hurunui Natural Environment Fund, receiving $1,100 to put towards tools to educate local children on the wonders of nature within the Lottery Bush Reserve.
The Reserve is located on the Inland Road, 12km from the Waiau Township, comprising of 186ha of some of New Zealand’s most threatened forest habitat including stunning mixed native beech and podocarp forest, making the Reserve unique to the east coast of the South Island.
