An interactive approach to Council’s projects
There is always a project or three on the go in the Hurunui District, and now everyone can know about them.
Hurunui District Council has created a Project Map, which is updated monthly so people throughout the District can see what's happening now and in the future.
Chief Operations Officer Dan Harris said this is a very approachable way to illustrate how and where rate money is spent around Hurunui, and as some of the projects on the map are part of the Long Term Plan document, it creates a real-life lens.
From roads and footpaths, in the reserves, at the transfer stations, at the social housing units, to stormwater, wastewater and drinking water, all these projects can be seen on the interactive map.
“We encourage everyone in the District to have a look at the map, so next time you see a pipe being installed, a hole being dug or road works taking place in or around your communities, you’ll know what’s happening,” said Harris.
Budgeting information is an additional feature, which means full visibility of where some of the rate money goes.
“We do ask our communities from time to time for feedback on proposed budgets, Long Term Plans and Annual Plans, and this Project Map will help put it into context.”
