Learn to Swim
Everything we do revolves around helping kids learn how to be safer in and around the water. That’s why we practice water safety during every lesson! Drowning remains a major cause of injury-related death among children, and while drowning prevention requires layers of protection, swim lessons have been shown to reduce the risk of drowning by 88%!
With every kick, stroke and breath, all of our students gain confidence in themselves and their abilities—because every small win adds up to a BIG sense of accomplishment.
Next term we are happy to advise that we will be offering 4 x lesson days per week. As you can appreciate however, we need to run each lesson at full capacity because the Learn to Swim program is fully self-funded. If classes do not meet the minimum number threshold we may need to adjust the timing or even cancel.
All lessons are to be paid prior to commencement of first lesson. An updated online registration form is required for each family even if one has been completed previously.
Please note that even if just one checkbox isn’t ticked off – that is the level they will be placed in. Please do not register your child in a class above their ability as we will not be able to keep them in that class and an alternative class at the correct level may not be available to move in to.
To help you we are providing free assessments to confirm your child’s level. To book an assessment or have any questions please call the pool on 314-0024 or you can email us amberley.pool.govt.nz
Please also note for the Monday and Saturday lessons, both of the pools are CLOSED to the public and only open for the learn to swim lessons. This closure also applies to children swimming before/after their sessions and to siblings as well.
On Wednesdays in term 1 we are only planning on taking two lanes for swimming lessons leaving three lanes open to the public during this time. Learn to Swim students may use the pool before/after their lessons during these times at no additional cost, but please be mindful that young children can get very cold with extended pool time and may be too tired/cold for their lesson if swimming beforehand. Siblings can also use the pool during these hours (with normal admission fee), however please be aware that our Under 10 Active Supervision Policy will apply.
Level 1 classes are 15 minutes each
Level 2 classes are 20 minutes each
Level 3-8 classes are 25 minutes each
Lessons are for children aged 4 Years and above
The final timetable of classes offered will depend on the registration numbers. Please note on your registration form if you have preferences or days/times you are unable to attend. We cannot guarantee we will be able to meet these but will do our best.
