Fire and Emergency Adjusts Fire Season Back to Restricted
News from others
Conditions of late have allowed Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) to change the fire season status from ‘prohibited’ back to ‘restricted’ for the Hurunui, as of midnight tonight (Monday 11 March).
FENZ’s website explains a restricted fire status means “a permit is required to light most fire types”.
Waimakariri and Selwyn districts are also going back to a restricted fire status, while Christchurch and Banks Peninsula remain on a prohibited status due to dry conditions and grass curing.
You can check which types of fire are still alright, like gas BBQs, braziers and wood-fire pizza ovens, at www.checkitsalright.nz
