New additions to Coppard Reserve
Leithfield’s Coppard Reserve has received a spruce up thanks to funding and community efforts.
After Hurunui District Council and the Leithfield community approved the changes to the Reserve Management plan for Coppard Reserve earlier this year, works were under way.
New additions include a half-sized basketball court, exercise equipment, history story boards, landscaping, and decorative features at each entrance.
Project lead Joanne Hassall said that the whole community got behind the project by donating their time, tools, and resources.
“The generosity of the community throughout this process has been incredible,” she said.
The history story boards were funded by the South Ward Committee, and the exercise equipment by Rata Foundation.
Donated additions include the wagon wheels at the new west entrance way, the time to remove the macrocarpa hedge, shifting mulch, installing the equipment and creating the history story boards.
Planning, purchasing, and planting the west boundary will begin soon to add a layer of sound proofing around the court.
“It’s great to finally see our vision for the Reserve come to life, which we hope the community will enjoy over the warmer months.”
