Makeover for Conical Hill lookout
The historic Conical Hill lookout boasts a particularly fresh look this festive season.
The well known wooden structure in Hanmer Springs was built in the early 1900s and has just received a much-needed makeover.
Works included removing asbestos, replacing the roof and spouting, repairs to the concrete floor, ceiling repairs, replacement of some of the steps and a re-paint.
Chief Operations Officer at Hurunui District Council Dan Harris said this recent upgrade marks a significant milestone for the iconic landmark.
“For everyone who visits Hanmer Springs, a walk up Conical Hill is often on the list of activities.”
