Some good conversations
There were plenty of great community conversations happening at Scargill Pavilion on Tuesday afternoon.
The Community Partnerships team at Hurunui District Council hosted a meeting with some of its partners, an opportunity to provide updates about funding, community-led development, and news from the Welcoming Communities group.
Council’s Community Partnerships Manager Rhea Duffy said this Team is continually grateful to The Rata Foundation and Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) for their financial support.
She said information sharing around changes with funding priorities, and criteria was a feature of the afternoon, with good discussion amongst the audience.
“And the venue was great, we’re so grateful to DIA for the funds to make the upgrades.”
The Waitaha Community-led Development (CLD) Network was a feature of the afternoon, a group formed to grow and strengthen regional connections for CLD practitioners in Hurunui. Coordinator Steve Jones-Poole said opportunities for networking, peer support, growing CLD skills and knowledge means the ability to celebrate successes and resolve challenges.
“We will build this network together.”
A Welcoming Communities update came from Together Hurunui Facilitator Natalie Paterson. She thanked everyone who has been involved so far to help welcome new people into Hurunui District.
“People have been bringing plenty of ideas and energy.”
The Community Partnerships team thanked everyone who joined them in Scargill this week, who came from many areas within Hurunui District and some as far as Christchurch.
The next workshop will be around good governance for community groups and organisations, all will be welcome.
