Good morning, Mayor Marie Black here.
It is believed that the engineering storage building on the south site of the Queen Mary Reserve in Hanmer Springs has been substantially damaged by fire during the early hours of this morning.
The incredible response from the local volunteer Fire and Emergency New Zealand team has insured that the impact on the remainder of the site has been minimised.
We are grateful that the fire did not impact any of our precious heritage buildings.
