In an emergency, Civil Defence will activate its Sector Posts, and Civil Defence Centres (evacuation centres) to assist members of its community as required.

It may take some time to get the Sector Posts and Civil Defence Centres up and running depending on the nature of the emergency.
Civil Defence Emergency Operations Centre (EOC)
The District Civil Defence Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will be housed at the Hurunui District Council Chambers, Amberley or the Hurunui Memorial Library in Amberley (should the Council building be impacted).
Sector Posts and Civil Defence Centre Locations
These locations may change, depending on the nature of the emergency and its impacts i.e a Sector Post may be damaged by an earthquake, in which case we would re-establish at a new location.
