Hanmer Springs Community Board
The Hanmer Springs Community Board is a statutory governance body established to provide local representation for the Hanmer Springs community. There are five elected Community Board members and one West Ward councillor nominated by the full Council.
Where funded by the Hanmer Springs amenity rate, the community board is responsible for recreation reserves, ward beautification, stormwater, footpaths, street lighting, township maintenance and public halls.

Ward and Community Committees
These committees are made up of community representatives from a particular ward.
Their purpose is to: represent and act as an advocate for the interests of the community; consider and report on any matter referred to it by Council, and any issues of interest to the committee; make an annual submission to Council on expenditure; maintain an overview of services provided by Council within the community; communicate with community organisations and special interest groups in the community, and undertake any other responsibilities delegated by Council.

Joint Committees
Canterbury Regional Landfill Committee
Christchurch City Council and Ashburton, Selwyn, Waimakariri and Hurunui District Councils are local authority shareholders in Kate Valley Landfill which is situated in the Hurunui district. The joint interests of these councils on the board of Transwaste Canterbury Ltd (TCL) which owns Kate Valley Landfill are managed through this committee. The remaining shareholders in TCL are companies involved in commercial waste management.

Canterbury Regional Transport Committee
The Regional Transport Committee (RTC) is established under the auspices of the Land Transport Act 2003 (as amended). It is responsible for preparing the Regional Land Transport Strategy, the Regional Land Transport Programme, and for advising the Regional Council on strategic land transport planning and funding matters.

Canterbury Waste Joint Committee
The Canterbury Waste Committee was established in 1996 to develop a management framework for solid waste, including waste minimisation and options for regional disposal. In 2006 the subcommittee was replaced by the Canterbury Waste Joint Committee which comprises all territorial authorities located in Canterbury (except Waitaki) plus Environment Canterbury.

Civil Defence Emergency Management Group
The Canterbury CDEM Group is a partnership of local authorities, emergency services and other organisations tasked with providing effective and comprehensive management of major hazards and their consequences anywhere in Canterbury. Civil defence is a major function of this Council and the availability of resources from outside the District in the case of a major incident is important. In addition, the Civil Defence and Emergency Management Act 2002 intensified the relationships within the region on these issues.

Enterprise North Canterbury
The Waimakariri and Hurunui District Councils established the North Canterbury Economic Development Trust as the economic development agency for North Canterbury. This not for profit charitable trust is a council controlled organisation and trades as 'Enterprise North Canterbury' (ENC).

Regional Water Management Committee
The Regional Water Management Committee is a committee of the Canterbury Regional Council and includes representatives from Environment Canterbury, the territorial authorities, rūnanga and Ngai Tahu, as well as one member from each of the zone committees.

Road Safety Coordinating Committee
The Hurunui Road Safety Coordinating Committee is a community committee, administered by the Hurunui District Council. Its role includes the integration of road safety education, enforcement and engineering programmes and initiatives in the Hurunui District. The Committee is the overarching body that coordinates the implementation of the District’s Road Safety Action Plan.
