Amberley Beach
CoastSnap is now live! Click here to find out more. |
We live on a long narrow island with an abundant coastline. Coastal hazards are part of our reality. The Amberley Beach community have developed a Coastal Adaptation Plan to take control of their future. It sets out how they will adapt to the changing risk over the next 100 years.
The Coastal Adaptation Plan was adopted by Council on 27 June 2023. The focus now moves to implementing the plan and undertaking the agreed upon actions. At this point the proposal for Managed Retreat and Land Banking needs more support to move ahead.
We’ll be having further conversations with those we haven’t heard from to understand whether the community support the proposal. If we haven’t heard from you and you’d like to provide feedback on the proposal for Managed Retreat and Land Banking please email coastal@hurunui.govt.nz
